Kaduna, May 24, 2024 – Nigerian Army troops, conducting counterterrorism operations in Kaduna State, successfully ambushed and neutralized six terrorists on Friday. The operation led to the recovery of arms and other logistics.
Acting on credible intelligence regarding terrorist movements in Giwa and Birnin Gwari Local Government Areas (LGAs), the troops swiftly mobilized to intercept the threat. The ambush was executed at Kidandan Junction in Giwa LGA, where troops made contact with the terrorists. Following a fierce firefight, the terrorists fled, abandoning a pistol.
Subsequently, the troops cleared Basurfe and Yuna villages, recovering a motorbike left by the fleeing terrorists who had crossed a nearby river valley. The troops continued their pursuit to Katoge village, a known terrorist enclave and crossing point, where they eliminated a terrorist scout and recovered a semi-automatic pump-action rifle.
The operation culminated in Saulawa village in Birnin Gwari LGA, where troops encountered several terrorists on motorbikes. In the ensuing exchange of fire, the troops overwhelmed the terrorists, neutralizing five more. The engagement resulted in the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, a G3 rifle, and nine motorbikes.
These successful operations demonstrate the troops' determination and resilience in countering terrorist activities in the troubled areas.
